The most incredible thing about this song: Paul wrote it when he was 14! Genius, genius, genius. He never thought it would fit the Beatles' style until, of course, Sgt. Peppers...

I just think this is a gorgeous little song that you can just sing along to so well, just like a lot of Beatles' songs.

What I've always thought was really ear catching about this song is how the octopus was presented as being good when normally octopuses &/or octopi are prented as eveil whether by capturing and /or strangling people ,using their ink against people or both.Anyhow the best aspect of this song just the same is that it takes the listener(s)to another world upon hearing it Also how I recall 1st hearing this song on Sesame Street in 1969 and then years later when I played The Beatles' record of Abby Road in 1980 and heard this again and it transported me right back to then upon hearing it again.

It really is a beautiful vision portrayed in the words, first written by Macca when he was still only just a teenager.
